Mint Hill NC Chiropractor Talks about the American Diet
Early in the 20th century, the American diet was very different from what it is today. For example, if you could look at the local store shelves, you would have found produce, living seeds, plants, and grains. You might have found some home-canned products as well.
Compare that to our shelves today. What do we find? We find meats that are usually injected with hormones to increase yields and meet quotas. We find foods that are highly processed. We find “junk” foods high in calories, fat, and sugar but low in fiber and nutritional value.
This has now been labeled as the Standard American Diet or SAD diet. In a Mint Hill NC chiropractor's opinion, it is sad! So, how do we summarize the SAD diet? First of all, it contains an excessive amount of certain foods, such as fats and sugar. Next, the SAD diet contains too few vegetables and fruits. Last, of all, the SAD diet contains too little fiber and nutritional content due to excessive processing and overcooking.
